Where does the money go?
Founded in 1991, the Foundation is the charitable arm of the St. James's Place Wealth Management Group. It was and still remains today very much part of the ethos and ambition of the Directors to create a vibrant and successful charity, which could make a positive and lasting difference to the lives of people who need it most. The existence and success of the Foundation has made a significant impact on maintaining the core values and teamwork amongst employees and Partners as the Company moves from success to success.
How we raise our funds
To ensure we can offer financial support to the hundreds of life enhancing and life changing projects we help fund each year the Foundation relies heavily on the generosity and actions of Partners and staff to raise vital funds that are then matched by the Company and distributed in line with the wishes of our community.
These actions take many forms and have included; The 3 Peaks Challenge, The Coast to Coast Cycle Challenge, Marathons, Skydiving, Climbing Mont Blanc, Fun Days and in 2012 a trek to Everest Base Camp with one team member summiting Mount Everest.
One aspect of the Foundation and our own community of which we are especially proud is that over 80% of our staff and members of the St. James's Place Partnership make a regular monthly donation. To our knowledge we are unique in the UK in having such a high proportion of our own people giving regularly in this way.
In 2016, we raised over £7.6 million including Company matching and gift aid. Since 1999, St. James's Place has matched the majority of funds raised, pound for pound, enabling us to raise a total in excess of £50 million. More than 95% of the money raised benefits the Foundation. In addition to matching the funds raised, St. James's Place covers the majority of administrative expenses, overheads and staff costs.
In 2015 we made a number of grants in the local area including to the following organisations:
- Inspire (Partnership through Life) Ltd
- Kidney Kids Scotland
- Scottish Spina Bifida Association
- Children 1st
- Xrcize International
- Northsound Cash for Kids
- Stand Easy
In terms of other local grants made over the years in Aberdeen, these have included;
|CLAN||Dial-a-Bus||Scouthall Play Group|
|The Martime Rescue Institute||The Paul Lawrie Foundation||The Archie Foundation|
|Cults Primary School||Friends of Raeden Centre||Bluestones|
As well as the hundreds of smaller one off grants that are made each year, such as those above, the Foundation has formed longer lasting relationships with a number of leading charities working both in the UK and Overseas, whereby the Foundation has funded various projects over a number of years.
